Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Acupuncture needles are very fine, no bigger than a hair. You may feel nothing at all when the needle is first inserted or you may feel a slight pinch. Once the needle is in place, you may feel heaviness, tingling, warmth, or an electric sensation around the needle, which usually subsides within seconds after insertion. After the needle is removed there may be (but not often) very slight bleeding or slight bruising.
